We build solid hardwood floating shelves to order in our Long Island, NY studio. If you specify shelves for client homes or commercial jobs, this is how we work with you: trade pricing, straight answers on size and lead time, and shelves that stay level.
What you get
15% trade discount
Approved trade accounts get 15% off standard and custom shelves. Multi-unit and commercial runs can be quoted separately when the job needs it.
Custom sizes & free samples
Length, depth, species, and edge to fit the room - not a stock SKU forced into the drawing. Same FAS-graded, kiln-dried North American hardwood. No veneer, MDF, or honeycomb. Approved trade accounts get free wood samples for client presentations (retail samples are $4.99, typically ship in 1-2 days, and ship free).
Quotes, lead times & Level for Life™
Email or call with drawings or a cut list - we’ll help size depth and bracket to the load. Standard shelving typically ships in 3-4 weeks (samples 1-2 days; DIY kits about 1-2 weeks). Shelves 1.75" and thicker are backed by our Level for Life™ Guarantee for the original owner when installed into wood studs or blocking per our instructions - up to 300 lbs static at 8" depth (1.5" shelves are guaranteed separately at HOVR’s 125 lb load rating, not Level for Life). Guides are on the site for your GC or installer.

When you use our shelves on a finished project, we'd love a few photos and a credit or link on your site or Instagram (studio name + themortiseandthehare.com, or a tag). Helps the next designer find solid shelves that hold. It's a favor between makers and designers. Not a paid placement or link scheme, and never a condition of the discount.
Who it's for
Interior designers, architects, contractors, builders, and home stagers with an active practice. Resale certificate or EIN helps when you have one. Not every good partner will. We review applications and reply by email - usually within one to two business days.
