Solid Red Oak Floating Shelf with Gallery Rail
SOLID RED OAK | MADE IN NY | LEAD TIME: 2-3 WEEKS
Commission a piece that blends classic warmth with refined detail.
Hand-selected from premium American Red Oak, this shelf combines the rich, amber hues of traditional hardwood with the polished accent of a solid metal gallery rail. It is the perfect design solution for homes with existing oak flooring or vintage trim, bridging the gap between heritage architecture and modern functionality.
The gallery rail provides a sophisticated, secure boundary for your display, while the underlying HOVR™ bracket system ensures the shelf remains rock-solid. Engineered to hold 300 lbs with our No-Sag Guarantee, it offers the visual lightness of a floating profile with the permanence of a built-in.

THE "LEVEL FOR LIFE GUARANTEE"
We have solved the primary failure of floating design: the sag. Traditional rod-based shelves eventually yield to gravity, causing a slant that compromises both beauty and safety.
Our LEVEL FOR LIFE Guarantee is backed by the HOVR™ aluminum cleat system. This interlocking mechanism acts as a structural extension of your wall studs, distributing weight evenly across the entire shelf.
Capacity: Rated for up to 300 lbs (at 8” depth, 1.75" min. thickness).*
Stability: Once locked, the shelf cannot vibrate, slide, or tip.
Our Promise: We guarantee your shelf will remain level under its rated load, or we will replace the shelf at no cost to you.
*While the HOVR™ system is rated for a maximum of 300 lbs, we recommend a safety-first approach of 150 lbs per stud connection. See here for all terms and conditions.
MATERIALS & CRAFT
We source only FAS-grade Hardwoods—the highest classification of lumber available. Unlike "engineered" wood or hollow box shelves found in big-box stores, our shelves are solid through and through.
- Longevity: Can be sanded and refinished decades from now.
- The Finish: Protected by a professional-grade Matte hard wax oil that is water-resistant and family-friendly.
- The Grain: Every piece is unique, featuring rich grain patterns & occasional occlusions. Due to natural variations in lumber, your shelf may differ from the images provided.
GALLERY RAILS
We offer three gallery rail finishes, and all rails are shipped assembled and fit to your shelf exaclty.
Unlacquered Brass:
Arrives bright gold but is designed to age. Over time, it will oxidize to develop a warm, unique antique bronze patina.
Do nothing to let it age naturally. To restore the shine, use a brass polish (like Brasso).
Black Steel:
A smooth, matte architectural black, that creates a sharp, modern silhouette against the walnut grain.
Polished Nickel:
This is a warm, high-shine silver tone (warmer than Chrome). It maintains its mirror-like luster and does not patina or darken.
Black Steel:
A smooth, matte architectural black, that creates a sharp, modern silhouette against the walnut grain.

INSTALLATION
We have replaced the flawed logic of traditional rod-based brackets with linear support. The patented HOVR™ bracket is an interlocking aluminum cleat that runs three quarters of length of your shelf, distributing weight evenly across your wall studs for a "zero-gap" finish.
INCLUDED WITH EVERY ORDER:
- Interlocking HOVR™ Cleat: The invisible, architectural backbone of your shelf.
- Structural Fasteners: Professional-grade screws for a permanent, secure hold.
- Gallery Rail with Posts: Pre cut and assembled to fit your shelf exactly, the gallery rail ships detached from the shelf and must be inserted upon installation.
- Precision Drill Bit: The exact gauge required for your bracket—no guesswork.
- Safety Set Screws: An integrated locking mechanism for total stability.
- Robertson Drill Bit: So you don't have to go digging around, even though you know you have one somewhere.
- Printed Instructions: Because paper is still the best.
Whether you are a seasoned DIY enthusiast or coordinating with a professional contractor, our installation process is designed for a flawless result. Our comprehensive guide provides step-by-step instructions, tool requirements, and professional tips to ensure your shelving is perfectly level and structurally sound.

Note: For the most secure "Zero-Deflection" result, we recommend anchoring the cleat into at least two wall studs. The HOVR™ system is designed to provide a seamless, flush fit against your backsplash or drywall.

BUILT DIFFERENT...
by Craftspeople who hope you love your shelves as much as they love making them.

Rooted in Reciprocity
True luxury is a cycle, not a straight line. We source our timber exclusively from sustainable North American yields, and through our partnership with One Tree Planted, we commit to planting a native hardwood tree for every shelf purchased. It is our way of ensuring the forest remains as permanent as the product we build.
FAQs
Please read our FAQs page to find out more.
What is the actual weight capacity of these shelves?
When anchored into wall studs using our included HOVR™ Aluminum Cleat, a single shelf is rated for 300 lbs (at an 8” depth). This makes them the premier choice for heavy-duty kitchen shelving, capable of supporting stacks of stoneware, cookbooks, and cast-iron cookware without risk of failure.
How do you guarantee the shelf won't sag over time?
Traditional rod-based brackets create a single point of failure that eventually bows. Our "No-Sag Guarantee" is possible because our system uses linear support. The interlocking aluminum cleat runs three quarters of the length of the shelf, effectively making the hardwood an extension of your wall’s internal structure.
Is the finish safe for moisture-rich kitchens and bathrooms?
Yes. Every board is sealed with a professional-grade, water-resistant Matte Clear Coat. This finish protects against steam, splashes, and stains while maintaining the organic, tactile feel of the solid American Walnut or White Oak. Unlike veneers, our solid hardwood will never peel or delaminate in humid environments.
Why is there a 2–3 week lead time?
We do not stock pre-made, mass-produced boxes. Every shelf is a bespoke commission, handcrafted to order in our Long Island studio. This allows us to select the finest FAS-grade lumber and ensure a precision fit for your specific dimensions. In the world of fine furniture, quality is worth the wait.
Can I install these myself, or do I need a contractor?
The HOVR™ system is designed for a streamlined DIY installation. We include a "White-Glove" hardware suite (cleat, structural screws, and precision drill bit) to remove the guesswork. If you can use a level and a power drill, you can achieve a professional-grade, "zero-gap" result.
What is the difference between your solid wood and "real wood" veneers?
Veneer is a paper-thin slice of wood glued over compressed sawdust (MDF). Our shelves are 100% solid, furniture-grade hardwood. Solid wood possesses a natural warmth, weight, and "tactile soul" that veneers cannot replicate. Furthermore, solid wood is an investment—it can be sanded and refinished 50 years from now.
